Jewish Ghetto and Trastevere District
Jewish Ghetto and Trastevere District
This tour is extremely evocative in feeling, imagining and understanding Rome in the past centuries: both the Rome of Caesars and the vibrant Rome of the Popes in the Middle Age. On the slopes of Capitoline Hill the Teatro Marcello and Portico of Octavia’s impressive ruins make us find immediately in the greatness of ancient Rome. You’ll see ancient buildings’ monumentality and quality and how those had been adapted to the needs of Christian Rome, an example above all: the fish market was placed among roman marbles! From there we will carry on visiting the Ghetto, the oldest and with the biggest synagogue in Europe. The Ghetto had been completely gutted and rebuilt but the inevitable evidence of the past are everywhere and tell us a lot! Through the Roman Bridge we will cross the Tiber, see Tiber Island and reach the other shore to be fascinated by Trastevere district charm. The narrow alleys, old houses, roman traditions and oddities dotted with beautiful and impressive churches: Rome most popular and traditional soul. Only who comes from Trastevere can call himself a roman, proudly claim its inhabitants, will it be true?

We requested 3 tours for our family of 7. We specifically wanted something that was intimate and designed for just us- to have a personal experience where we would be submerged in the Roman culture and history, while at the same time having an open dialogue with the tour person. All our tours were amazing and the experience was top notch. I feel that we learned so much more having these personal tours than we would have using a large group tour company. One member of our family had some limited physical abilities and both tour guides were very accommodating. The experience will never be forgotten! Emanuele was extremely easy to work with on our bookings. He was very responsive, professional and just downright a joy to work with all around! Crazy4Rome exceeded all expectations!
We had 2 days of touring with Crazy4rome in May. It was outstanding in every way. Easy access to the sites and the tour guide was knowledgable and fun. I would highly recommend them for any excursion!
